Newsletter Marketing with Shopify

There’s a lot of competition in the e-commerce world. To market your Shopify store optimally, you should consider more than just one marketing channel.

An optimal permanent solution for regular advertising is the newsletter. A newsletter keeps your customers up to date, strengthens the bond with your company and can be used to introduce new products and thus generate targeted traffic.

The collection of newsletter subscriptions is integrated into Shopify by default, but there are various solutions for sending newsletters. In addition to Shopify’s own solution “Shopify Email”, Cleverreach is the best solution for German stores.

Newsletter with Cleverreach and Shopify

CleverReach is a German company, and thus the provider makes it easy with regard to the GDPR. The tool is, of course, fully compliant.

Cleverreach is also clearly ahead of Shopify Email in terms of automation. The free version of Cleverreach allows you to integrate and do a small test or two, but due to the limit of 250 recipients, you have to upgrade to the paid version quite soon. Features such as A/B testing, scheduled sending, dynamic content and detailed reports are then also directly available in the paid version.

Shopify Email or Cleverreach?

Since 2020, there is also the in-house newsletter service “Shopify Email”. The tool can be conveniently integrated as an app and then allows you to create corresponding newsletters directly in the Shopify admin area under Marketing. Various templates and the option to select a color scheme make the first newsletter mailing a breeze, even if the professional may feel very limited.

Unfortunately, Shopify Email doesn’t offer any automation options, so Cleverreach is clearly ahead, especially for large stores. For small stores, however, Shopify Email is a great way to try out the channel without high costs.
